To achieve this, engineers employed reverse engineering techniques to precisely replicate the dimensions of the original part. Subsequently, they produced prototypes using 3D printing and subjected them to rigorous verification and validation procedures. Through meticulous analysis and destructive testing, the engineers ensured that the 3D-printed parts met the necessary standards for functionality and durability. Once the suitability of the prototypes was confirmed, a total of 18 identical components were printed for installation, marking a successful integration of additive manufacturing into Coast Guard operations.
