The world’s largest 3D Printed building defies Hurricanes as a remarkable horse barn
In a remarkable feat of engineering, a luxury horse barn spanning 10,100 sq. feet has been constructed using 3D printing technology in Wellington, Southern Florida. This impressive structure, created with the COBOD BOD2 construction 3D printer, surpasses the previous record-holder in the Middle East by almost 50% in size. Designed to withstand the extreme weather conditions of the hurricane-prone region, the horse barn prioritizes structural integrity and occupant safety. The innovative 3D-printed walls of the building provide a cavity and air gap, ensuring natural cooling within the structure.
The colossal horse barn stands 155 feet tall and spans 83 feet in width. The construction process involved five repositionings of the printer, with multiple layers of the building completed to ensure its robustness. COBOD, the company behind the printer, has already achieved several milestones in the 3D printing industry, including creating the world’s tallest building and the world’s fastest construction in Oman.
Philip Lund-Nielsen, COBOD Co-founder and Head of Americas, commended the completion of this monumental structure and emphasized the transformative impact of 3D printing on the construction industry. The versatility of their 3D printers extends beyond housing, as they are now being utilized for various applications such as turbine bases, schools, office buildings, data centers, silos, and even horse barns.
