3D printed aerogels can remove chemical residue.

Silica-based aerogels are not known to be carcinogenic or toxic. It can be used whenever handling or processing bare aerogels, particularly when dust or fine fragments may occur.
As stated by, co-author Nirupam Aich, Ph.D., assistant professor of environmental engineering at the UB School of Engineering and Applied Sciences,”3D printed graphene-biopolymer aerogels for water contaminant removal: a proof of concept.
