Personalize touch with 3D Printing. Personal and looking different are always in demand. To fulfill this need, Hong Kong Polytechnic University uses the 3D Printing technology center laboratory’s U3DP technique to give Clothing a personalized touch. It collaborated with Stratasys, a leading 3D printing manufacturer known for its innovative technologies, to achieve its ambitious goals. Specifically, they partnered with Stratasys’ fashion machine, the J850™ TechStyle™. This state-of-the-art device combines advanced 3D printing capabilities with a focus on textile-based materials, making it the perfect tool for exploring the intersection of fashion and additive manufacturing.

The machine’s versatility allows for the seamless integration of different fabrics, creating garments that blend rigid polymers with soft, flexible materials. This groundbreaking fusion of materials opens design aesthetics, functionality, and comfort possibilities.
The 3D-printed clothing could withstand regular washing. Through extensive research and experimentation, they developed innovative techniques and optimized materials that withstood washing and retained their shape, color, and structural integrity.
