While simplicity has been a common characteristic in many 3D-printed architectural designs, the remarkable fusion of tradition and innovation in the New Delft Blue project, located in the Dutch city of Delft.

Studio RAP’s innovative approach to 3D printing involved using an industrial robotic arm and a custom extruder to craft 3,000 unique ceramic tiles meticulously.New Delft Blue’s grand passageway stands as an architectural marvel, measuring approximately 4 meters (13 ft) in width, 8 meters (26 ft) in height, and 12 meters (39 ft) in depth. This advanced setup enabled the precise layering of a clay-based mixture, allowing the tiles to be 3D printed by a predetermined pattern manufactured in just 15 minutes, showcasing the efficiency and accuracy of the 3D printing process. The glazing added depth and texture to the tiles, while the firing process ensured their durability and longevity.
