3D Printed quick walls for the house
Jason Ballard, the CEO of ICON, has stated that using their 3D printing process to layer concrete can set the walls of a house in about a week. The company has negotiated with Lennar to test its mass production capabilities. According to ICON CEO Jason Ballard,¨The 3D process of layering concrete can set the walls of a house in about a week. You often get a worse product when you try to build houses faster and cheaper. But in fact, the opposite happens with 3D printing. These houses are more resilient, more comfortable, and more energy-efficient.¨
ICON uses a proprietary 3D printing technology called “Vulcan,” which can print entire houses in just one day. This technology allows homes with fewer resources, less waste, and a shorter construction time. The houses are also more durable than traditionally constructed houses and can withstand natural disasters such as hurricanes and earthquakes. In addition to being more resilient, 3D-printed houses can be more comfortable and energy-efficient. ICON’s 3D printing technology creates unique designs and shapes, which can improve ventilation and lighting in the home. The company also uses advanced insulation and HVAC systems to improve energy efficiency and reduce the house’s environmental impact.
3D printing technology has the potential to revolutionize the construction industry by making it faster, cheaper, and more sustainable. With companies like ICON and Lennar leading the way, it will be interesting to see how this technology develops and impacts the housing market in the coming years.
