3-D Food! Like something from Star Trek.
Thanks for following my blog, which is much appreciated. As I am now 65 years old, I doubt I will be around long enough to see a 3-D printer in every home, but I am sure it will come.
    Best wishes, Pete.

The food replicator of the old sci fi tv, movies and cartoons, is almost finally here.. Next step is for the machine to cook it too.. I’m picky, so it’ll have to pop out gourmet quality for me to give it a nod 😄

Let’s see, if this is right? Premise. we have less time to cook food? So we meed a machine to do it for us? A machine like a 3d food printer? How much work, will it take, for someone to buy such a machine? Even if they wanted to take good ingredients and load them into plastic hoppers then extruded through needle type devices? That’s bound to take time to earn the dough? Then after, the machine needs cleaning. “Cuz you know food and air becomes dried and crusty, not even from the obvious moulds? Thanks but I’ll stick with my ancient time tested methods, even if not so visually appealing. I mean it’s not even on the plate for more than ten minutes … tops? Art over practicality? Thanks Barilla!

Thank you for your thoughts. I agree 3D printed food may be no match for fine dining. But just like fast food, it may be a direction in which civilization may go. Thoughtful comments on cleaning and maintaining of 3D printers. Maybe similar to food processors. Sometimes I prefer to cut my vegetables with a knife and sometimes use a food processor. Maybe it will be one of the appliances that people buy because it is cool but then it sits on your kitchen counter. Maybe it will need another technological advancement to become mainstream. :)
